About
Richard Vevers is an ocean science communicator and Director of Room 71 at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution (WHOI), the world's leading non-profit dedicated to ocean science and exploration. He works with leading brands to change how people see the ocean and to speed up ocean science solutions to global problems. He founded The Ocean Agency, invented the underwater camera behind Google's underwater Street View, and played the lead role in Chasing Coral, the Emmy Award-winning Netflix documentary. His work has been featured in over 10,000 media articles and has resulted in over $200 million in funding for ocean science and conservation. He is a Fellow of The Explorers Club and is based in Woods Hole, Massachusetts.
Richard is also an experienced diver and expedition leader. He is a Fellow of The Explorers Club, having embarked on numerous remote expeditions to take Google Street View underwater and carry out the first comprehensive global survey of the world's coral reefs. He simply loves the ocean and being underwater, especially with his wife and creative partner, Stephanie.
